Well... I signed up for this blog 16 months ago, just so that I could post a comment to a friend's blog. I guess it's about time to bite the bullet and use the darn thing! I will probably ramble (much like the way I talk), but I will at least use paragraphs!
Pulpit Politics It was wonderful this past Sunday to hear my parish priest (and boss, but that's a different subject!) preach about the upcoming election. Fr. Paul didn't tell us which candidate or party we should be voting for, so there's no concerns with the taxman. He pointed out how horrible it is that so few Americans take advantage of our freedom to actually vote in elections. He stated how important it is that we learn what the Church teaches in order to ensure that we have well-formed consciences. Finally, on multiple occasions he emphasized our belief in the sacredness of all life from conception to natural death. How refreshing!
People to Count on One of my dearest friends has spent the last 5 or 6 days at her sister's bedside. The sister was very suddenly stricken with pneumonia and some other fairly serious complications. On Saturday evening she was airlifted to Sioux Falls, which was a cause of concern to all. I am happy to be able to report that as of today (Wednesday), the sister is doing much better, but that's not my point...
You will never find a more dedicated friend and caregiver than Cindy. As I stated, she has rarely left her sister's side since last Friday. Those of us who are close to her are worried that she is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders, but we also know that she would never be happy/comfortable/satisfied (I can't pick the right word) without helping someone in need. I know that her family appreciates her, but she doesn't go out of her way in order to get recognition or praise; she does it because it's been ingrained in her soul. God bless her!
I hope that all of us have someone as caring at our bedsides when we are in need.
That's enough for the first time.
